Series: Carolina Cold Fury Hockey #5
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Date: March 15, 2016
Vale Campbell isn’t the same girl she was at twenty. As crazy as she was about Hawke, her reckless behavior and out-of-control drinking were starting to scare her. She had to clean up her act, and that would never happen with Hawke around. Cutting him loose was the hardest thing Vale ever had to do—until now. Because she’s still crazy about Hawke. And if he could ever learn to forgive her, they just might have a future together.
I love the Cold Fury Hockey Series and Sawyer didn’t disappoint yet again with the story of Hawke and Vale. This is the fifth in the series and they keep getting better and better. This one is a bit different from the others as it is a second chance romance.
What I adore about Sawyer Bennett’s books that keep me coming back for more and more are her characters. I adore them. I want to know them and especially the female leads. She always gives us strong heroines which is a must for me.
Vale and Hawke fell in love in high school and as Hawke made his way to the NHL something happened to drive them apart. I love the flashbacks and getting pieces of the story as present day unfolds. This is a classic example of why communication is so important and not to assume you know how the other would react or feel in a situation. Watching Vale and Hawke deal with problems that all of us have is refreshing and a pleasure to read. I love second chance romances and having two people find their way to each other again.
I look forward to the next in the series. I can’t seem to get enough of these boys and their women. The Cold Fury series in a must read.
