About THE DARKEST CAPTIVE:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Gena Showalter comes a new story in her Lords of the Underworld series…

For centuries, Galen the Treacherous has been the most hated immortal in the Underworld. With good reason! This bad boy of bad boys has lied, stolen, cheated and killed with abandon. Possessed by the demons of Jealousy and False Hope, he has always lived for a single purpose: destroy everything.

Then he met her.

Former demon turned human femme fatale — Legion Honey — sought to kill Galen, but ended up parting with her virginity instead. Afraid of their sizzling connection, she ran away…and ended up trapped in hell, tortured and abused in the worst of ways. Now she’s free, and a shell of herself, afraid of her own shadow.

Galen’s hunger for Legion has only grown. Now the warrior with nothing to lose must help her rekindle the fire that once burned inside her. But as desires blaze white-hot, will Legion run again? Or will the unlikely pair succumb to love at long last?

MY REVIEW

I have been waiting a long time for Galen and Legion’s story.  I wanted a full length novel as these two are complicated characters who I imagined would have a complicated relationship.  The Darkest Captive wasn’t everything I was hoping for but I enjoyed reading it. I really enjoyed the beginning of the story, as we got to know these characters again.  Galen was the larger than life villain of this series for so long and I expected him to be much meaner and worse.   I feel like he lost some of himself when he fell in love with Legion and not in a good way.  I wanted him to still be the Galen we all know and hate but suddenly start loving because of the way he loved Legion.  I’m not sure if that even makes sense but I just expected more from Galen in this book.  With that said, I still loved this story because I wanted this to happen and Gena did!

Eulogy_eBook_HiRes

All is lost.

All.
I don’t recognize myself in the mirror anymore.
My thoughts are filled with hatred and dripping with rage.
I’ve lost my soul.
She took it to the depths of Hell with her and haunts me with images of what could have been.
Sixty lives are mine to take.
Sixty lives stand in the way of my vengeance.
Sixty lives plus one more.
Mine.
When the last drop of blood falls — mine will be spilled.
Only one person stands in the way.
She doesn’t realize I’ll kill her too.
I don’t own a heart.
And even if I did — I wouldn’t fall prey to its lies again.
I am Chase Abandonato.
Heir to a legacy of betrayal.
And I will kill them all.
Even if it means pointing the gun at myself.
A life for a life.
A soul for a soul.

Now I lay me down to sleep… I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Blood in. No out.

Excerpt:

BLOOD. BLOOD. BLOOD.
It covered my hands.
It surged through my heart.
It dripped from my fingertips onto the concrete floor.
Trapped.
Broken.
Finished.
Hungry.
Insanity scratched its way into my psyche as I eyed the door and waited. One heartbeat, two heartbeats, three…
It opened.
I fired two rounds, and acrid smoke filled the air.
I thought I knew what love was. I was a fucking idiot. Every single bone in my body shuddered with rage, with the need to rip something apart, someone, anyone —all of them. My friends. My brothers. I brought the war to our house, and they would finish me because of it.
I’d thought I loved her.
Our love had been a lie.
Her betrayal my only truth.
And now?
Now, I finally knew what love was. I’d seen it, smelled it, tasted it.
And lost it.
I’d fucking lost it.
They would pay. They would all pay.
For taking her.
For turning her against me.
For making me believe that blood was everything, only after mine was spilled.

My Review

This is a hard review to write and do this book justice. Chase Winters Abandonato has been destroyed. The guy who was the jokester of the mafia, more optimistic than most, and the life of the party is just gone. The events we read in Enrage changed him. He now has no reason to live except to destroy the DeLanges. He wants to murder each and every one of them and he want stop until he does. It is a death sentence that he has no issue with.

This is by far Rachel’s best book of the series and if you know me, check out my Elude review. That book absolutely gutted me. One of the ugliest cries I have ever had while reading. But Eulogy is the darkest and grittiest Rachel has gone with this series. You feel everything that Chase feels as the story unfolds. You are sitting in the depths of hell with him as he tries to find his way. And the horrible part is you are left with quite a bit of uncertainty if he will survive. Rachel is known to torture us by killing beloved characters and I actually was worried.

Chase’s possible savior comes in the form of the mafia’s new lawyer: Lucianna Smith. God bless this girl. She has no idea what she is getting into as she has no reference point for the mafia only movies and tv shows. When she meets Chase, he is at his lowest. He doesn’t hold back and exposes her to his darkest side. However, Chase can’t stay away from her light. She is just a genuinely good person who has worked so hard to get where she is in life. She is selfless and wants to help no matter the cost.

There is nowhere Rachel doesn’t go in Eulogy. There were so many intense scenes that played out on the pages. I found myself holding my breath…almost afraid to turn the page. The plot twist at 86% was a “Are you kidding me moment!” I totally didn’t see it coming….like at all. Those are the best kind, right?! Plus the white horse moment was a killer! The whole last 1/4 of the book was crazy!!!

Eulogy was unpredictable, dark, alluring and absolutely heartbreaking to read. Some may say you can just pick this up and read it but I argue you need to read the whole series. You won’t regret it. You will enjoy every minute of it. I wait patiently for each new installment because they only get better each and every time. Blood In…No Out.Eulogy-Teaser6

Book Release and Review: Lucas by Sawyer Bennett

Lucas (Cold Fury, Book #8)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: September 19, 2017

Synopsis:
The Carolina Cold Fury hockey team is stacked with hotshots. But when a new player joins their ranks, he learns that even superstars can’t go it alone when it comes to love.

Lucas Fournier is only serious about one thing: hockey. The league’s fun-loving charmer, Luc is always up for a good prank or a great lay, and he has no intention of settling down. But being traded to the Carolina Cold Fury—and to play alongside his big brother, Max—is no joke. With another title in sight, the last thing Luc wants is to let his new teammates down. To succeed, Luc will need to keep his head in the game and the most . . . er, demanding member of his anatomy in check. But when temptation hits, Luc hits back harder.

Museum curator Stephanie Frazier has always put business before pleasure, which just about explains her nonexistent sex life. But when Stephanie meets Luc at a champagne-fueled gala, she finds herself flirting like crazy—and going home with the uninhibited athlete. For one night, she learns what passion is all about. She just never counted on the little surprise Luc leaves behind. And that’s when things really start to get . . . interesting.

My Review

I have enjoyed all of the Cold Fury Books and Lucas was no exception. Lucas and Stephanie have a hot and steamy one night stand that complicates both of their lives. These two enjoyed each other but never planned to see the other again. Stephanie is going through life but not really living it. She has a job she doesn’t love and no friends to really speak of. It is so hard for her to let Lucas in and especially the rest of his family. I felt so sorry for Stephanie because she has no family of her own. Her mother is absolutely terrible.

Lucas is beyond lucky. He has the type of family that most only dream of and all the support he will ever need. He wants to do the right thing and he actually likes Stephanie. He knows she has issues and is willing to stand by her as she works her way through them. Watching these two get to know each other and fall in love was so fun to read.

Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling Carolina Cold Fury series can be read together or separately.

Book Release and Review: In Too Deep by Lexi Ryan

Title: In Too Deep
Series: The Blackhawk Boys #5
Author: Lexi Ryan
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: September 15, 2017

Blurb

New York Times bestselling author Lexi Ryan brings readers a sexy NFL player who’s pulled out all the stops for one more chance with the love of his life.
***
I have four months to make my wife fall in love with me or let her go forever.
I loved Bailey Green long before she watched her loser ex take his last breaths. I held her while they lowered his coffin into the ground, stilled her shaking hands when the nightmares would tear her from sleep. I waited for her through her grief. But while she was always willing to let me in her bed, she refused to let me in the one place I longed to be—her heart.
Tired of playing second string to a dead man, I let her go. I moved to Florida to begin my NFL career and tried to pretend my perfect life didn’t leave me empty. I’d almost given up. Until one drunken night in Vegas, we stumbled down the aisle and said, “I do.
In exchange for the divorce she wants so badly, she’s agreed to remain my wife until the end of the year. She has no idea the favors I’ve called in or the lies I’ve told to get her here, but if I succeed, none of that matters.
My secretsalways seemed justified, but Bailey has her own—secrets that explain why she always pushed me away, secrets that make me wonder if I should have let her. Now we’re in too deep and I might lose the only girl I’ve ever loved and the best friend I’ve ever had.
In Too Deep is a sexy and emotional novel intended for mature readers. It’s the fifth book in the world of the Blackhawk Boys, but can be enjoyed as a standalone.

© Lexi Ryan, 2017
“You know, once you were my friend,” I say. “And maybe that’s what I miss most about us. Maybe instead of judging me for my decisions, you could try being my friend again.”
He puts his glass down on the table, his eyes locking on mine before he slowly stalks toward me.
I lift my chin, refusing to back down, because dammit, I shouldn’t have to apologize for wanting Mason’s friendship. Is that so terrible?
But my defiant stance doesn’t faze him and he keeps coming, one step at a time, until he’s finally up against that bubble he prefers to keep between us. He takes another step and he’s inside it, but still not nearly as close as I want him. He takes another, and if I had the courage, I could reach out and touch him. Another step and he’s so close that he has to bend his head down to maintain eye contact. So close that if I lift onto my toes, I could brush my lips against his.
I almost do, if only because fighting with him makes me feel as if there’s something broken in me, and I want it to be over. I miss the soft stroke of his lips against mine. I miss the sound of his sweet murmurs as he unbuttoned my pants and slid my underwear off my hips. I miss the sex, but more than that, I miss the way he’d hold me after. He held me in a way no one else had ever bothered to. Not even Nic. Mason would pull me against him, my back to his chest, and he’d snuggle against me until I could feel the warmth of his breath against my bare shoulder.
I want all of that again, and what breaks my heart the most is if I’d known when I took that deal—if I could have seen into the future and gotten a glimpse of exactly what I was giving up—I still would have done it. I did what I had to do.
Mason’s eyes drop to my mouth. “I don’t want to be your friend, Bailey.”
“Yeah,” I whisper. “You’re making that really clear. All or nothing, am I right?”
His jaw hardens, and I wouldn’t have thought it possible, but he moves even closer. My back’s against the sliding glass door, and his body presses into mine. He shifts until his thigh is between my legs, and then he lifts a hand to my hair, sliding his thumb up my neck until he’s cupping my jaw. I want to melt because I’ve missed this so damn much. I’ve missed him so damn much.
“I’ve never wanted to be your friend,” he says, shaking his head. And it’s a blow to the heart I’m not sure I’m strong enough to endure. When I told him we could be lovers but nothing more, we were friends…best friends. Then he moved down here and shut me out.
“I’m sorry my friendship was such a burden.” Fuck, even my sarcasm sounds weak, but this whole conversation has me vulnerable.
“It wasn’t a burden. It was a daily reminder of what I couldn’t have. I thought that if I quit fucking you it wouldn’t hurt so much that you refused to be mine.” His thumb traces my bottom lip, and I tremble. “I thought if I could get the memory of your taste out of my head that maybe I’d be okay with being your buddy.” He sneers the word, his face twisting in disgust, but when the sneer falls away, it leaves raw need in its wake. “But I was wrong. I don’t want to be your friend, because that means you’re only giving me part of yourself, and I am the spoiled bastard you say I am. What was your word? Privileged?”
He dips his head down and turns his face to the side, sweeping the tip of his nose over the tip of mine. “I don’t want your friendship unless it comes with your body. And I don’t want your body unless it comes with your heart.” He dips a little farther and brushes his lips so softly against mine that I almost wonder if I’m imagining it. Maybe he isn’t touching me at all. Maybe the sensation is nothing more than air passing between our mouths.
He’s chipping at the walls I keep erected around my heart. And what happens when they’re gone? What happens when he sees me for who I really am?
“You say you want to be my friend,” he says, “but friends don’t lie to each other. They don’t hide their pasts.” His hand falls from my hair. I brace myself for his retreat, but he doesn’t back away. Instead, he finds the hem of my dress and slides up my thigh, then between my legs until he reaches my cotton panties. “Is this it, then? Is this all you want from me?”
His knuckles skim across my center, and I should stop him. Fuck. I should stop him. I know what he’s trying to do, what he’s trying to say, and how I’ll feel when this is over. But all I can think is how I feel right now. How it finally feels to have him this close—his heat, his touch.
All I can think is that if the rest of my life is going to be some sucky, lonely series of if-onlys and what-ifs, dragging from one day to the next, I just want this moment for as long as it can last. Maybe I’ll wrap it up and hold on to it. Keep it for later when I can untuck it and examine the heat of his breath against my neck or the gentle graze of his fingertips along the lace edge of my panties.
He nips at my ear with his teeth, and I moan. His breath has gone shallow, and I can feel the tension building in him—that push and pull of wanting and knowing you shouldn’t want. It’s easy for me to recognize, because I’ve lived in that limbo for almost four years.

Book Review: Pucked Off by Helena Hunting

sbpr-po-rt

Pucked Off, an all-new emotional and sexy STANDALONE from Helena Hunting is LIVE!!

Pucked Off by Helena Hunting
Genre: Contemporary Romance

businessman working on laptop in black suit

***A Standalone novel in The Pucked Series***

I’m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance.”

I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want.

Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way.

I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve.

At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.

I shouldn’t want her.

But I do.

I should leave her alone.

But I won’t.

Excerpt:

Armed with my clipboard, I walk down the hall to the waiting room. Lance is impossible to miss. Despite the fact that he’s wearing a sweatshirt and the hood is covering half of his face, he’s more than six feet of broad, hockey-playing man.

He’s so wide his shoulders encroach on the chairs on either side, which would explain why no one is sitting next to him. He’s slouched down so his head rests on the back of the chair, and his hands are clasped in his lap, a baseball cap hanging off one knee. His lips, plush and soft—I know since I’ve had them on mine; it might have been a decade ago, but I remember it clearly—are parted. He looks like he’s asleep.

I clear my throat. “Lance Romero?”

He doesn’t move.

Bernadette, the receptionist, gives me a meaningful look.

I clear my throat again and call his name a second time. He jolts awake and the hood falls back, exposing his face. It’s not in good shape. He has a black eye and bruises on his left cheek. There’s a fly bandage across one eyebrow.

Sadly, he’s still hot.

He blinks a few times, yawns, and smacks his lips, his tongue touching the split in the bottom one. His gaze sweeps the room and finally lands on me. Heat explodes in my cheeks and courses through my limbs, warming me from the inside out as he starts at my sneaker-clad feet and roams up over my yoga pants to my company-issued T-shirt before stopping at my face. I can’t look directly at him for more than a couple of seconds. I sincerely hope he doesn’t remember me. I cannot go there and also be professional.

I’m sure the smile he gives me has melted many a panty off a slutty bunny. Mine stay right where they’re supposed to, wedged up my ass.

I force a polite, professional veneer. “I’m ready for you now.”

MY REVIEW

Sometimes you patiently wait for a character’s story and the anticipation almost kills you.  You build up the possible story in your mind to the point that the author may not be able to fulfill your wants and needs.  I was worried…just a bit when I started Lance’s story in Pucked Off.  I love this entire series with its screwball comedy and hot hockey couples but what we have seen of Lance led me to believe that his story would require a lot more emotion and angst.  The little nuggets that Helena gave us of Lance made you think he was not only broken but maybe absolutely impossible to repair.  As a reader, you visualize what possible woman could heal Lance and Helen gave us the perfect heroine: Poppy.

These two lived up to every bit of hype I created in mind, read about in our groups and Helena provided in excerpts and teasers.  I couldn’t get enough.  Lance was just as broken as I imagined and I just wanted to reach through the pages and hug him.  This man has no idea what real love looks like.  He is a tortured soul with a terrible past and can’t seem to break the cycle.  He and Poppy have a history that he can’t remember and their relationship starts out a bit rocky.  I don’t want to ruin any part of this story for a potential reader but I will tell you it is gut wrenching to read and you just want Lance to truly find some happiness, safety and most importantly, you want him to understand and embrace real love.  Poppy is the right person for the job.

Lance Romero and his story will not leave my mind or my heart for a long time to come.  I love that Helena Hunting wasn’t afraid to give us a little angst and torture in an otherwise laugh out loud series.  She is a talented writer and I look forward to what she has in store for us next.

Book Review: Royally Matched by Emma Chase

RM-FB-on-sale-5

Royally-Matched-3D-bookSome men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry Charles Albert Edgar Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.

He’s not handling it well.

Hoping to force her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora goes on a much-needed safari holiday—and when the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:

Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.

A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world’s most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.

While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.

The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit…and her naughty sense of humor.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.

As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.

MY REVIEW

Royally Matched is the continuation of Emma Chase’s Royally Screwed.  We find Henry, the younger prince, has taken on Nicholas’s role since his abdication of the throne.  Henry is under scrutiny from his grandmother the Queen and is having a hard time rising to meet the challenge.  Everyone excepts him to screw up and continue his playboy ways.  Henry is a truly sweet and enduring man that most people do not see.  The stress is literally eating at him so he decides he needs to decompress.  The answer: a reality show called Matched: Royal Edition. Oh boy.  Here we go.

Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum is a shy bookworm who keeps herself hidden in the library.  She loves her job and her family so when her crazy, outgoing sister Penny asks her to come along to do Matched, she agrees.  Sarah is the opposite of Henry in most every way.  She is quiet, reserved and chooses not to be seen in a room.

Henry meets Sarah on set and they become friends.  They talk and just hang out and Henry escapes to Sarah’s room during the reality show craziness.  Henry finds himself relaxing around Sarah and Sarah opens up to Henry.  They soon realize there is more between them than friendship.  But can Sarah handle Henry continuing on the show business as usual when they may be more between them behind the scenes?

“What a strange pair we are. The sad boy and the frightened girl…”

I really enjoyed this book and the sweet, enduring moments between Henry and Sarah.  Emma Chase gave us a little erotica in our royal love story as well. The scenes between these two were hot.   This is a series worth picking up today!

Book Release and Review: Switch by Adriana Locke

Title: Switch
Series: Landry Family #3
Author: Adriana Locke
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: February 20, 2017

Blurb

Mallory Sims is late for her first day of work.

After spilling her tea, she discovers she has no gas in her car. Add that her arm keeps sticking to her dress from syrup left on the console of her car, flustered feels like an understatement.

Then she sees her new boss.

Graham Landry is the epitome of NSFW in his custom-fit suit, black-rimmed glasses, and a look so stern her libido doesn’t stand a chance. Being flustered is just the start of her problems.

Her punctuality is only the start of his. With a pink slip in hand, he’s been waiting on his new secretary to show up only to let her go. Then she rushes in with her doe eyes and rambling excuses, smelling like bacon and lavender. The termination paper falls to the side as she falls in his arms.

This is a disaster in the making. Not because of his pinpoint exactness or her free spirit, but because when they’re together, the sparks that fly threaten to burn the whole place down.

Excerpt

We both know we aren’t just talking about a moved stapler or a mishmash of files. As that really sets in, the air around us gets heavier. Hotter. Hazardous.“Those things always lead to dangerous situations,” he says, his eyes trained on me.

I shift in my seat, the throb between my legs growing stronger by the second. “People do it every day and survive.”

“They may survive, but don’t things get messy?”

“Only if they do it right.”

His chair flies backwards and he’s to his feet and next to me before I know what’s happening. He doesn’t ask that I stand, but he doesn’t have to. It’s implied and my body reacts accordingly to his silent command.

We stand face-to-face, our breathing ragged. Our chests heave with the anticipation, the possibility, of what might come next.

“You are, quite possibly, the most dangerous of them all,” he says, his voice rough.

“Why is that?” I breathe.

“There’s no plan for you.”

“But you’ve already penciled me in, haven’t you, Graham?” I ask, finding the courage to play this little game with him. Being strictly professional is incredibly hard, and this is way too easy.

I can flirt with the best of them in a bar or on a college campus. But here, with him, it’s a game all its own. A level I had no idea I’d ever be a contender in. Maybe I’m not, but I’m going to play the hell out of it while I’m here … even though if I keep it up, I might not be here for long.

“What do you want, Mallory?”

“I want to do all the things you ask of me and do them better than you ever expected they could be done.”

A rumble emits from his throat as his eyes darken. My knees go weak and I grab the table with my left hand to ensure I don’t fall.

He licks his lips and flips his gaze to my mouth. I think I whimper as I lift my chin, waiting to see what he does next. My entire body is on fire for this man, my heart thumping so hard I’m sure he can hear it.

He moves so my back is pressed against the table, our food long forgotten. His hands are on either side of me, caging me in. Our eyes locked together, he leans in, a slow smirk spreading across his gorgeous face.

“Excuse me, Mr. Landry. Ford is here to see you,” Raza chirps through the line.

We exhale simultaneously, a giggle escaping with mine. There’s nothing funny about this, but the energy has to come out in some way.

“Mr. Landry?” she asks again.

“I’ll be right out. Thank you, Raza.”

“Oh, you’re so welcome, sir.” The line clicks off and Graham marches across the room and punches a button. The light on top indicates he’s not to be disturbed.

I busy myself with cleaning up our lunch, and before he’s at my side again, I have everything bundled up.

“Thanks for lunch,” I say like nothing just happened.

“Mallory …” He runs his hand through his hair, leaving one lock sticking up. Knowing what that will look like if we walk out together, I reach up, hesitating for a split second, before smoothing it out.

His hair is silky against my fingers. He jumps when I touch him at first, but doesn’t back away. “What are you doing?”

“Nothing went on in here. I refuse for it to look like something did. That’s the way rumors get spread, Mr. Landry.”

“Mallory, I …”

I get a final look at his face, reach up and straighten his tie as his eyes go wide, then turn towards the door. “I’ll send Ford in.”

“Mallory!”

“Yeah?” I turn to see him over my shoulder. He’s standing by the table, his hands in his pockets looking frazzled. When he doesn’t respond, I place my hand on the knob. “I’ll have that file back to you before I leave today. Thanks again for lunch.”

I walk out before I can change my mind.

My Review
There is just something about these Landry boys and I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into Graham Landry.  He didn’t disappoint at all.  Over the last two books of the series, we have noticed that Graham seems to be the natural born leader of the family.  The most dependable of the lot and also the most conservative.  He doesn’t seem to have any personal relationships outside of his family and work seems to be his life.
In walks our girl, Mallory and Graham is quickly falling all over himself.  Mallory wants to stand on her own two feet after a past relationship that left her a bit unsure of herself and questioning all of her life decisions.  She takes a job as Graham’s assistant and after their first meeting, you knew these two were going to be pulled together.  Graham is a routine driven guy and Mallory throws a major kink in his cogs.  It is hilarious to see it play out between them.  Watching a man that is usually so in control, fall all over himself is a nice change.  Graham can’t stay away from Mallory and Mallory is afraid of being burned again.  She needs to control her own life but with Graham around she seems to be losing control again.
The truly best part of this story is how much these two seem to understand each other.  Mallory quickly realizes that Graham needs to do more things for himself and really spend some time just being relaxed and carefree.  Graham realizes that Mallory needs to be independent and doesn’t crowd her.  He gives her space but also supports her ambitions and dreams.  Graham is everything that Mallory didn’t have in the past.  Mallory is everything that Graham wants in a partner not only in business but in life.
Adriana Locke nailed this story and she makes me fall deeper in love with the Landry Family.  I can’t wait to see what is in store for Ford and his sisters.  This is a series I don’t want to end.

Book Release and Review: Twined Bond by Emma Hart

twined-banneravailablenow

twinedbond-final-ebooklgAll is well in Holly Woods.

My best friend’s love triangle is now a happy little circle. My sister-in-law just gave birth to my gorgeous new niece who is the world’s best cuddler, and Nonna’s not on my back every ten minutes about the fact we’re getting married in one month.

Supposedly.

Until the mayor’s niece—our baker for the wedding—commits suicide. At least, that’s what the note says. My gut says we’re talking a different kind of ‘cide.’ My gut also says I should stay well away, and in the interest of Drake’s sanity, I plan to.

But when life throws you an unexpected curveball… Sometimes the best laid plans need tearing up.

Even if you don’t mean to do it.

Happily ever after…

If Holly Woods survives this.

“Tell that to my ovaries.”

“I think I did last night when I hugged Casey.” He winks at me.

I playfully shove his chest. “It made me think. That’s all.” I slide my hand down his stomach and, in a small voice, say, “I think you’d be a great dad.”

He smiles, pressing his lips to mine. “And you’ll be a great mom. When you figure out how to be an adult.”

I hit him again. Much harder this time.

He laughs, stepping back and moving to the coffee machine. “Stop getting your panties in a twist over every little detail, okay, babe? Take everything one step at a time and let me help you. Instead of freaking out in your office alone, call me.”

“What if you don’t answer?”

He shrugs, hitting the button on the machine. “Leave me ranty messages and I’ll come with cupcakes,” he says over the gurgling of the coffee spitting into his mug.

“And just like that, he makes me forget why I was ever worried about marrying him,” I tease.

He simply looks over his shoulder, smirks, and throws me a second wink.

And an idea flies through my head.

A crazy, stupid, ridiculous idea.

The moment the coffee machine stops, the kitchen fills with silence.

One that makes my idea buzz loudly.

“Drake.”

“Mhmm?” He turns around, still stirring sugar and cream into his coffee.

“What if we did it? Got married. Eloped but kinda didn’t.”

“You’re confusing me now, sweetheart.”

I’m confusing myself. But still… “We’re registered, right? We both have each other’s rings in the safe in the closet. Why don’t we just…do it?”

He stills, but his blue eyes swing from his mug to meet my brown gaze. “Are you suggesting we blow off the ceremony, grab our rings, and go see Father Luiz right now?”

 My Review

To say that I was said that the Hollywood Hills Series is ending would be a gross understatement.  We have laughed, loved, and cried with these characters through seven books.  Emma Hart didn’t disappoint with this epic conclusion for the Hollywood Hills gang.  I loved every minute of it and I hold out hope that we may hear from them again.

I can’t go into too much detail without ruining the plot but Noelle and Drake get everything that could want and more.  Of course, the road to it is often bumpy because you can’t get through a week let alone a month in Holly Wood Hills without a case that needs to be solved but it is so fun to tag along for the ride.

We get plenty of the rest of the gang as well as Nonna does what Nonna does best….aggravates, annoys and ultimately loves her family to death.  All of Noelle’s brothers/sisters in law as well as parents have their parts to play and they played them well.

I loved these characters from the first chapter in Twisted Bond and nothing changed.  I still love them and I can’t thank Emma Hart for taking this wild ride into romantic suspense…with a side of comedic relief.  The romance was always hot and the intrigue was always there but in the end, it was just a boy loving a girl wanting to make her his world.

Thanks, Emma and I can’t wait for the next adventure with you!

MY Review:

If you are faithful Helena Hunting fan and adored the Clipped Wings series, you have patiently been waiting for this one.  We all wanted to know more about Chris and Sarah.  These are two characters who have a hard time letting their walls down.  They both have seen the worst life has to offer and have carefully constructed their walls as protection to get them through day to day life.  The problem for these two is their relationship started as a physical hook up but as time passes, they slowly start developing deeper feelings for one another.

Chris was hard not to love…the man has the entire weight of the world on his shoulders or at least it feels that way for him.  He is trying so hard to take care of a mother (who let’s be honest didn’t do right by him) and his sister (who he is watching go through the same hellish beginning he did) and at the same time figure out what is going on with Sarah who he has come to care for dearly.

Sarah is everything you want in a female lead.  Strong, independent, resilient and is going to work harder than anyone else to achieve her goals.  Sometimes I got a bit frustrated with her because I just wanted her to tell Chris or explain to him.  Believe me, I get it.  She tried to shield him from her problems because she could see his plate was full and she didn’t want to add to his problems.

Needless to say, it was angsty and hard to watch these two stumble around trying to find their way to each other but so worth it.  It was also good to see all of our other favorite characters from Clipped Wings.  This book was well worth the wait, Helena!
